Motorcyclist Life Flighted to Baystate after Crashing in Ashfield Identified

Ashfield, Mass. (WGGB) — Authorities are looking into a crash in Ashfield that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital via life flight Wednesday evening.

The call was received at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday for a motorcyclist into a tree at 669 Creamery Road.

State Police Sgt. Richard Cadran told ABC40 News, “He was taken from the scene by ambulance and then they created a landing zone in Williamsburg where he was airlifted to Baystate Medical Center. He is being treated right now. However, the severity of his injuries are unknown.”

The motorcyclist has been identified by police as 58 year-old David A. Allen from 91 Williamsburg Road in the town of Ashfield

“He alleges that a vehicle was coming the opposite way and encroached into his lane and he took aggressive action and ended up hitting a tree in the process,” explained Cadran.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this crash.

Ashfield Fire and Ambulance Rescue and Shelburn Falls State Police Officer Sean McNanara all assisted in this incident.
