Five College Students Moving Back Into Area

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.  (WGGB) — Thousands of students will flood the five colleges in Hampshire County this long holiday weekend.

Heavy car traffic and foot traffic could already be seen around Amherst and Northampton Friday afternoon.

“It’s actually really exciting especially when friends come back,” said Sasha Hsyczyk, Hampshire College student.

“I like to see that there is stuff happening you know,” said Libby Goldstein, Hampshire College student.

Stores and restaurants near the colleges are experiencing the overflow of people.

“You come in here to Bueno y Sano and it’s a Friday night you can see students lining up in the front you can’t even get in the front door because the lines are all the way to the door,” said Wilbur Moreno, Bueno y Sano.

The restaurant which has locations in both Amherst and Northampton looks forward to the students coming back.

It’s not all fun and games students are also stocking up for the semester.

A.J. Hastings in Amherst is already seeing an influx of customers.

“From what I’ve seen today just in the last hour there has been a lot of people getting school supplies,” said Kelsey Weldorn, A.J. Hastings.

The move ins continue through the Labor Day Holiday.  People in the area can expect added traffic all weekend long.
