Phony Realtor Busted, Admits to Robbing Open Houses

EAST LONGMEADOW (WGGB) – Police in East Longmeadow say they’ve arrested the man responsible for robbing open houses while posing as a real estate agent.

Police arrested 24 year-old Nicholas Spencer on Thursday afternoon. They say once in custody, Spencer admitted to robbing three open houses, one in East Longmeadow and two in Springfield.

Police say Spencer would sign into a broker’s open house under the alias ‘Alex’ and then proceed to steal jewels and other items from different rooms. Many of those items were recovered when police searched Spencer’s vehicle.

Police say a picture of the suspect that aired on Abc40 News Wednesday night helped them make the arrest. An East Longmeadow police officer watching the broadcast was able to recognize the suspect’s vehicle in one of the pictures, connecting it to an open house robbery she was responding to.
