Wanted: David Alexander Thomas

SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – Police say they’ve been looking for 21 year-old David Alexander Thomas since April. He’s wanted on several charges including aggravated assault and battery and possession of drugs with intent to distribute.

His most recent arrested happened at 15 Girard Avenue. A relationship with his then-girlfriend had ended and he was at her apartment (which they once shared) to clean out his things. The 19 year-old girlfriend was 14 weeks pregnant with Thomas’s child.

“A verbal fight started.” Springfield Police Sergeant John Delaney describes. “That escalated to a physical confrontation where he threw a Playstation 3 at her and threw a bottle of shoe polish at her head.”

Scared, the woman ran to the apartment next door where she called police. Returning to her place to tell Thomas they were on the way, he grabbed her and slammed her against a wall.

Thomas briefly left the apartment, only to return claiming he left his hats inside. Police say Thomas kicked down the door to retrieve his things.

“He went in, got his things and police were called again by the neighbor.” Sgt. Delaney says.

When Thomas ran out the back door, police were waiting to arrest him. A search of his pockets uncovered 34 bags of marijuana ready to be distributed. Police say because he was caught with marijuana in a school zone, Thomas will serve at least two years in prison.
