Music Inspired Jewelry at The Big E
WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — How about a ring made from a braided guitar string or a bracelet from a braided bass string or a necklace made from the rings on the end of the strings or a necklace made from a custom guitar pick.
Rock ‘n Rock Jewelry is the brain child of musician Peter Holmbeck. He started it 21 years ago after doing something he and countless other musicians had done countless times before.
“When you take the strings off a guitar, you kind of coiled them up before you put them in the garbage,” said Holmbeck. “But I thought for a second, wait a second, that looks cool.”
Holmbeck is based out of Orlando, Florida where he has a store at Universal Studios.
This is his first time at The Big E. And it almost didn’t happen. Without a spot on the show floor, Holmbeck and his crew drove up from Florida opening week hoping a vendor would cancel.
“And then, yeah, Thursday night at like 8 o’clock, they were like, ‘hey guys, we appreciate how you drove up here and we found a spot for you’,” said Holmbeck.
He says the response to his jewelry has been overwhelming.
“Everyone loves music,” says Holmbeck. “Why not wear it?”
