Chicopee Officials Warn of Fake Water Department Employee

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB) — A warning to Chicopee residents about a fake water department employee going around town trying to get into people’s homes.

Chicopee Water Superintendent Alan Starzyk tells ABC40 that Tuesday afternoon, his department received a couple calls from residents stating that someone came to their doors claiming to be a water department employee and asked to get inside the house.

Starzyk wants to warn residents that this person is not a water department employee and is misrepresenting themselves.

In at least two cases, the residents did not allow the person into their homes. It is known what the person’s intent is if they were to gain entry into the home.

Starzyk notes that water department employees are on the road between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the offices are open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Residents who may question whether some is or is not an water department employee are welcome to call (413) 594-3420.
