Holyoke Officer Held Without Bail

HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) — A Holyoke police officer accused of beating his wife and holding a gun to her face has been ordered held without bail.

Officer Loumag Alicea was ordered held at a dangerousness hearing Monday. The 15-year department veteran pleaded not guilty last week to domestic assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Authorities allege he was on duty Sept. 15 when he stopped by their home in uniform and put a gun in her face. They allege he beat her on Sept. 21. His wife testified he grabbed her hair, bashed her face against the floor and kicked her.

Alicea denied assaulting her and denied threatening her with a gun.

His lawyers say his wife has had affairs and failed to tell him she has AIDS.
