Report: Sox to Fire Bobby Valentine

BOSTON, Mass. (WGGB) — According to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, the Boston Red Sox will part ways with Bobby Valentine after the season has come to a close.

Valentine has led the Red Sox to a 69-92 record so far this season, with just one game remaining (tonight vs. Yankees).  The season has been mired in stories of Valentine’s exploits – from threatening radio show hosts, to crashing his bike today in New York, and of course, just not winning baseball games.

According to Heyman’s source, the firing will occur either Thursday or Friday.

Sox GM Ben Cherington texted “no comment” in response to Heyman and his report.
