Things are always a bit spooky on Disney Channel’s new hit animated series Gravity Falls, but the show returns Friday with a special Halloween-themed episode that aspires to even greater chills.

Gravity Falls revolves around siblings Dipper (Jason Ritter) and Mabel (Kristen Schaal) as they spend time with their eccentric great uncle (“Grunkle Stan,” voiced by creator Alex Hirsch) over the summer. So how does the show pull off a Halloween episode? Simple: In the twisted town of Gravity Falls, Halloween is also celebrated in the summer, complete with “Jack-o-Melons” and trick or treating in the sunlight.
