CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB) — With gas prices as high as they are, everyone’s looking for the best deal. Many times, you can actually save more than what’s advertised on the station sign. Several area businesses offer rewards programs that cut the price per gallon.
At Stop & Shop, you get a point for every dollar spent with your store card. For every 100 points, you get .10 off a gallon of gas, .20 for 200 points and so on up to $2.20. It’s making the difference for Crystal Williams of Chicopee.
“We school choice her,” Williams said about her daughter. “So, we’re driving from Chicopee to Granby. So, the savings is important. We do our shopping at Stop & Shop. You save 10 cents, 20 cents, 30 cents. It adds up.”
At BJ’s Wholesale Club, gas prices are typically cheaper than most places but it’s only available to the store’s members.
At Pride gas stations, with the pride savings card, you earn .10 off a gallon every day. With a Pride Rewards card, you earn .02 for every dollar spent on gas or on on products in the store. And then there’s a contest to earn free gas for a year.”
O’Connell’s has two programs depending on if you go to one of their convenience stores selling Mobil gas or selling Shell gas. With Mobil, you earn money off gas by buying certain products in the store. The products change every week. With Shell, on top of that, you earn rewards by shopping at certain stores and restaurants in the area and on-line.
At F.L Roberts stations, you earn a different amount of points depending on what you buy. For example , you earn 10 points for every dollar spent in the store and 65 points for every dollar spent on a car wash. Every 500 points equals 10 cents off a gallon. You can even buy things like milk with your points.
At Big Y World Class Market, you can earn ‘coins’ with store purchases. They can be redeemed for up to .20 off a gallon of gas. The stores website has a list of participating stations.
