Pulaski Day Parade Held in Downtown Northampton

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) — Monday was a day to celebrate Polish heritage in Northampton..

Mayor David Narkewicz led the 26th annual Pulaski Day Parade.

It stepped off on King Street, turned onto Main, ending at Pulaski Park next to City Hall.

Narkewicz is Northampton’s first Polish mayor in 50 years.

He read a proclamation honoring Revolutionary War hero General Casimir Pulaski, after whom the park is named.

Northampton’s parade is well known because the participants dress in traditional polish clothing.

This year’s parade Grand Marshal was Eddie Forman, who is the longtime leader of the Eddie Forman Orchestra as well as the former band director at Hopkins Academy.
