Powder Found in Northampton Office Building Non-Hazardous

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) — Fire officials have determined that a suspicious powder found in a Northampton building is not dangerous.

Firefighters tell ABC40′s Tom Lewis that an envelope containing a suspicious white powder was found at Frazee Mediation, which is on the second floor of 243 King Street, around 10:00 Tuesday morning.

A hazardous materials team arrived around 11:30 a.m. to further investigate the envelope.

Crew found that the powder inside was not hazardous, and the employees were allowed back in the office later in the day.

No other evacuations have taken place and other businesses in the complex remain open.

The investigation remains ongoing.
