Falmouth Teen Arguing with Mom Before Fatal Jump out of Car

FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — Police say the Falmouth teenager who died after jumping from a moving car had been arguing with his mother.

Police on Tuesday said the death of 18-year-old Albino Fernandes was a “tragic accident.”

Police say Fernandes was a passenger in the car driven by his mother last Thursday when they began arguing after she asked him to help pay rent.

The report says Fernandes climbed out of the moving car’s window and hit his head on a roadside tree. He was taken to the hospital with severe head trauma where he died.

Police say he had no intention of harming himself. Fernandes graduated from Falmouth High School in the spring and was captain and quarterback of the football team.
