Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – The twelfth annual “Fall Feastival” fundraiser supporting Habitat for Humanity was held Thursday evening.

More than one-hundred fifty habitat supporters from the Greater Springfield community were in attendance.

Food and drink was provided by some of the area’s top restaurants.

Money was raised for the Greater Springfield Chapter of Habitat with several live and silent auctions. Auction highlights included a gourmet meal prepared by the Chicago Bull’s personal chef, Steve Jackson, and hosted at the Basketball Hall of Fame, Red Sox/Yankees tickets for a game at Yankee Stadium, and a week in Paris in a private apartment.

“All the money goes toward our missino of helping local families become homeowners for the first time. And this year is kind of special because we are kicking off our celebration of our 25th anniversary. So in that 25 years, we have helped 50 local families,” said Jennifer Schimm of Habitat for Humanity.

Last year the fall feastival raised over thirty-five thousand dollars, and organizers said they feel confident they are close to this year’s goal of fifty-thousand dollars.
