DALTON, Mass. (AP) — Police have shot and killed one of two dogs that attacked a Dalton man and sent him to the hospital with bite wounds to his face and the left thigh.
Police say the man in his 30s was attacked outside his home at about 4 p.m. Thursday.
One female and one male dog burst out of a nearby apartment and bit the man.
Police tell The Berkshire Eagle they shot the male because it continued to act aggressively and it was too risky to capture it. The female was caught and taken to a shelter.
There was no immediate word on the breed, but they appeared to be pit bull-types.
The dogs’ owner was not home at the time. Police are still trying to determine whether charges are warranted.

Man bites dog far too often. When will man bite man? The dog was trained to do this, whether the owner did it purposefully or through ignorance. The dog has no malice either way.
“There is no immediate word on breed..” Then maybe don’t just throw the word pitbull out there.
darts anyone good bar game
Its BS how they automatically think they are pitbull!!!!!! I live with 3 pitbulls and they r the sweetest dogs ever one loves to hug and the two others love to cuddle
tired of hearing about the Pits. first the sheaperd then the Dobbie then the rotty nest it will be a cat. give it a break and how does a dog break out of an apartment or was the guy trying to break in.
I agree, if the breed is unknown, why throw the world pitbull out there? I bet if it was a different breed if dog, this would not even make news, and if it did I guarantee the breed would not be made known.
Of*
Word* sorry, autocorrect.
I’ve yet to see a vicious pitbull… my friends have em and I have one…. mine is so sweet, he likes to play and is nice to everyone… the only issue, he’s a humper lol…. I love all the anti-pitbull things… where was this when MY pitbul was attacked by my neighbor’s golden retriever (i’m serious)…. not once but twice… my friggan dog was so shaken up and had wounds… If a dog attacks, it is either they are trained that way, abused, or feel threatened, like ALL animals do….
