DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas woman has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for beating her toddler and gluing the child’s hands to a wall.
Elizabeth Escalona faced from probation to life in prison. Prosecutors sought 45 years behind bars. A state district judge decided her sentence Friday.
Police say Escalona attacked 2-year-old Jocelyn Cedillo because of potty training problems. The 23-year-old pleaded guilty in July to felony injury to a child.
Police records show Escalona’s other children told authorities she kicked Jocelyn in the stomach and hit her with a jug in September 2011. They said Escalona glued Jocelyn’s hands to the wall with a type of strong adhesive known as Super Glue.
Jocelyn suffered bleeding in her brain, multiple bruises and was in a coma for a couple of days.
What the hell is wrong with people now days!!!! There are people out there who can’t have children and would do anything to be able to have one an then we have these people who can have them and mistreat them. Ughhhhh it makes me sick!!!!!!!
Thankfully. Now hopefully that sweet baby is in loving hands. Sickening.

Let me preface this by saying I don’t condone child abuse or any violence for that matter. It turns my stomach and this woman is clearly sick. I don’t sympathize with her and she is obviously getting what she deserves. With that said, I think our justice system needs a real overhaul. To sentence this woman (who clearly deserves to be punished, but at the same time clearly has mental/anger issues) to life in prison for snapping seems rather harsh when lifelong criminals and actual murderers often don’t get life sentences. There really need to be more straight forward punishments set and make the process less arbitrary. You do X you get Y, end of story.
True she deserves at least 10 years sentence and 5 in parol with a mental anger treatment for a total of 15! But there are worst criminals that have done horrible murders of more then 1 person and have been out in 25 years and rapist that have rape several children’s and come out in 14 years! So what the heck,her family should write to the next President,call the news expose that worst people make less years in jail! I know she deserves jail punishment but 99 years is not fair when worst people don’t even make half of that,what’s up with the court system,been racist or something???? A good defense lawyer should review this case! Just saying!

Texas laws are tough. A third offense DWI can get you 5-99 years. There’s more to this story than what’s being reported here. She’s already been in and out of jail.
maybe it was because she plead guilty, 99 years seems like alot, she probably would have done better if she went to trial and had a lawyer fighting for her. Anyone who hurts a child deserves what they get
