Thornes Marketplace Merchants to Donate 5% of Sales Saturday to United Way

Northampton, Mass. (WGGB) — It’s a chance to give back Saturday while getting a little something for yourself.  Fifteen shops at Thornes Marketplace in Northampton are participating in Saturday’s “Purchase with a Purpose” event in Northampton.

Merchants will donate 5% of all sales to the United Way of Hampshire County.

Shop owners say signing up for the event was a no brainer, “It’s a win-win for everybody because our customers are going to benefit by getting great clothes from us, and then some of our money is going to go to the United Way. And the United Way is going to make more money and Thornes is going to be seen as a big part of the community. So it’s a great idea, I think,” says Tara Brewster, co-owner of Jackson & Connor.

Also, if you bring your receipt to the United Way’s “LIVE UNITED” booth while you’re there, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a downtown Northampton gift card and many other great prizes.
