Missing UNH Student is Dead

DOVER, N.H. (AP) — Authorities say a 19-year-old University of New Hampshire student missing since Tuesday is dead, and a man has been charged with second-degree murder.

Elizabeth “Lizzi” Marriott disappeared after she made plans to visit friends in Dover on Tuesday night.

Assistant Attorney General James Vara said Saturday that authorities believe she is dead but have not found her body. Her car was found in a parking lot on campus in Durham.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested and is in custody. Vara didn’t say whether the man knew Marriott or what led to his arrest.

Police began searching for Marriott on Peirce Island in Portsmouth on Friday night.

Marriott was a marine biology major who lived with her aunt in Chester. She was a 2011 graduate of Westborough High School in Massachusetts.

  1. Is she or is not dead. The headline states she is dead, then in the 3rd paragraph it is saying they believe she is dead and have not found the body yet. What is wrong with reporters today. They can’t spell, they one thing in one paragraph, than contradict themselves in another sentence.
Guess they were not taught how to proof read!!!!!
