BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — A Brockton man accused of manslaughter after allegedly fleeing police and causing a fatal accident has led police on a car chase before.
The Enterprise reports that Antwoin Moore also fled police last year, though this chase ended with Moore on foot, and no one hurt.
Last week, Moore was involved in fatal crash after fleeing police and pushing a car driven by 49-year-old Maryanne Kotsiopoulos into traffic, killing her. On Monday, Moore was ordered held on $250,000 bail.
Moore’s lawyer says his client fled an unmarked police car because he thought he was being carjacked. But police say Moore told them he fled because he didn’t have a license.
The Enterprise reports that’s also what he told officers who chased him in 2011 when he fled after allegedly running a stop sign.
