Woman Freed from SUV after Two Car Accident in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A woman had to be extricated from her SUV after a crash Tuesday afternoon in Springfield.

The crash happened just before 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Union Street and Hancock Street in Springfield.

Dennis Leger, executive aide to Springfield’s fire commissioner, says that when firefighters arrived, they had to use the Jaws of Life to get the female driver out of the car.

A male passenger in the rolled-over Toyota Rav 4 was already out of the car.

Both the man and woman suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Department.
