Springfield Casino Vote Discussion

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The discussion on whether to have a city wide or ward specific vote to enter into a host agreement with a casino developer was continued tonight.

The City Council Planning and Economic Development Committee held their third meeting on the topic Thursday night at the Fredric Harris Elementary School.

“The consensus has overwhelmingly been a city wide vote, but we want to engage all the neighborhoods in the city.  We want transparency. We want all the neighborhoods to participate in this process,” said City Councilor Bud Williams.

The next meeting about a city wide vote is Thursday October 25th in The Sullivan Fire Safety Complex located at 1212 Carew Street at 6 p.m.

  1. Hey, I have lived almost my entire life in Springfield. Forest Park, Eastside, and currently 16 Acres; why the heck shouldn’t my vote count. I pay taxes too. Lets get that part of the city cleaned up, start getting back to the old days of downtown, and enjoy the excitement that the casino offers. Woot woot for MGM and our great mayor Sarno. Who else is excited?
