Investigators Believe Deadly Enfield Fire was Accidental

ENFIELD, Conn. (WGGB) – Fire investigators believe that the fire that killed an Enfield teen was an accident.

Fire broke out at the Shaker Pines neighborhood home late Wednesday night, killing 13-year-old Hope Hart-Hartnett.

Enfield Fire Chief Charles Mascata told ABC40′s Brendan Monahan that they tried hard to rescue and save Hope, but the flames constantly pushed them back.

“It was a big crack and you see everybody down. We were trying to get the attention of the other firefighters to help their men. They were a great team,” Mascata said Thursday.

While the investigation into Thursday’s fire continues with Enfield Fire officials and the Connecticut State Fire Marshal, it’s believed that the cause was accidental.
