Holyoke Closes Schools, Reschedules Halloween

HOLYOKE, Mass. – Mayor Alex Morse has announced that the Holyoke Public Schools will be closed Tomorrow. Holyoke City Hall will be closed and only essential city employees should report to work.

Department heads are working hard to make sure all city residents are safe.

The Department of Public Works is asking all residents to clear catch basins near their homes to cut down on any street flooding.  Streets subject to flooding will be closed off. 

The Holyoke Water Department has lowered the levels of water in the city reservoirs to accommodate the anticipated heavy rains. 

Mayor Morse has postponed Halloween trick or treating until Saturday.  Also, the Halloween party at fire headquarters is cancelled. 

The Board of Health will notify residents when and where emergency shelters will be open. 

Anyone with an emergency storm related question should call the Mayors office at 322-5510 or the Emergency Operations Center at 534-2311. or 534-2162.

Any Gas and Electric problems should be reported to the Gas and Electric at 536-9300.
