Schools Across the Region Closing for Sandy
October 28th, 2012
REGION (WGGB) — Schools across Western Massachusetts are closing in preparation for tomorrow’s weather.
Springfield, Ludlow, Southwick-Tolland-Granville, Agawam and Chicopee were some of the first to close.
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino says all city public schools will be closed Monday and nonessential city employees should stay home Monday because of the approaching superstorm expected to bring high winds, coastal flooding and power outages to the region.
Massachusetts officials, meanwhile, have opened the state emergency operations center to get ready for the storm. Schools across Connecticut are also closed.
