Local Red Cross Volunteers Head to New York City

Springfield, Mass. (WGGB) —  Local Red Cross volunteers are helping out the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

8 volunteers from the pioneer valley chapter are heading down to the New York Area.  5 left Tuesday and 3 more are there in the coming days.

They’ll help staff the many shelters around New York City.

Angela Orlich is one of the volunteers heading down Wednesday, “It makes me feel great knowing that I can help someone that has had a devastation yesterday, the day before or today with the hurricane.  Thankfully I have a job that lets me volunteers with the Red Cross.”

The best way you can help the victims of the storm is by donating money to the Red Cross.

The Red Cross is also looking for blood donations.
