Man Taken to the Hospital after Being Struck in Northampton

Northampton, Mass. (WGGB) — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Northampton late Wednesday afternoon on South Street.

According to Sgt. Powers with the Northampton Police Department, a man was struck around 5:00 p.m.

The man has been taken to Baystate Medical Center with a head injury. Powers says at this time it is not a fatal accident.

Our crew on scene reports there is a crosswalk right in the area where police have tape up and markers, but it is not clear if the man was actually in the crosswalk when he was struck.

Police have not released the his name yet or the type of vehicle that was involved in this accident.

Powers says it is too early to tell whether the driver will face any charges or not.

Police continue to investigate this incident.
