Westfield Mother Arraigned for Kidnapping after AMBER Alert
WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The Westfield mother who caused an Amber Alert and a nationwide police hunt was arraigned in Virginia on kidnapping charges.
28-year old Cheryl Kozaczek and her three month old daughter were found safe there Wednesday. She does not have legal custody of her child.
Westfield police say she abducted her around 1 a.m. from her home on Woodmont Street.
The mother remains in Virginia. The status of her extradition isn’t clear.
Hampden County District Attorney Mark Mastroianni declined to comment on the status or location of the child because of her age.
