Barney Frank Campaigns for Warren in Pioneer Valley

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) — Congressman Barney Frank campaigns for Elizabeth Warren in the Pioneer Valley. At her campaign office in Northampton, he said he supports her for two main reasons.

The first is her spearheading the formation of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It created in the wake of the mortgage crisis and general financial meltdown.

“Elizabeth Warren is an excellent advocate and has already distinguished with legislative accomplishments, the consumer bureau,” said Frank. “So, people see her as a someone who would have a major national impact which also benefits the state. You know, the more prominent your elected official is in congress, the more influence they have for you.”

Frank also says if Scott Brown wins reelection, it could lead to a republican majority in the senate. He says that would create the worst gridlock the country has ever seen.

“If he helps the republicans control the senate, Mitch McConnell is majority leader,” said Frank. “Mitch McConnell is a man who already said his number one job was to frustrate Barack Obama.”

Warren campaign staffers in Northampton have seen an increase in momentum recently. But, just like Frank, they don’t want to take anything for granted going into election day.”

“Turnout’s always important regardless of political affiliation, ” said Elizabeth Silver, Coordinator of Volunteers in Warren’s Northampton office. “And in this case, the race has been very close all along. So, the person that turns out the vote means the person that’s probably going to win this election.”

The Oct. 30 Suffolk / 7 News poll shows Warren with a seven point lead over Brown.
