WEST SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – The West Springfield man police say used a python as a whip to beat his girlfriend while she soaked in a hot tub has been arrested.
Police tell Abc40 the suspect 34-year-old Keith Paro turned himself in Thursday afternoon. Paro is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in Springfield District Court.
A warrant was issued for Paro following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend at her house on Morton Street.
Police say the two got into an argument over a dog which quickly escalated. Police say while the female victim was soaking in a hot tub, Paro began whipping her with his pet python.
Police say the victim had bruises on her knees, back, arms and stomach as she desperately tried to protect herself.
After the assault, Paro tossed the python into the tub. The snake did not survive.
What’s more, police say Paro destroyed the inside of his girlfriend’s home causing $10,000 in damages.
The victim has since issued a restraining order. Paro faces a slew of charges this morning including animal cruelty and domestic assault and battery.
