Mass. Immigrants to Rally on Election Night

BOSTON (AP) — Immigrants living in Massachusetts are set to hold an election night rally in Boston to demand that the next president initiate a humane and sensible reform of the immigration system.

The immigrants plan to rally in front of a building in which Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his supporters will watch election returns Tuesday night.

The Boston immigrant rally will coincide with similar gatherings in 16 other cities intended to also celebrate the voting power of naturalized citizens.

Eva Millona of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition says immigrants will be sending one message to Romney, President Barack Obama, their parties and the nation. She says hundreds of thousands of immigrant families have been torn apart by historically high number of deportations and the next president must hear the voice of immigrants from the moment he’s chosen.

  1. It’s simple. We have laws that thoroughly cover immigration. Most Americans are descended from immigrants. So if you’re hear illegally, don’t rally and protest, go home and follow the rules to come here.
Of course, if you gather together at a rally, that makes it easier for the police and INS to round your illegal selves up. Have fun.
