“Foodraiser” Held for Rachel’s Table

LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB) – More than 100 middle and high school students are doing their part to help fight hunger in Western Massachusetts.

Today the students are shopping for groceries at the Longmeadow Big Y. They will shop as individuals or in teams to purchase groceries that will be donated to Rachel’s Table, a community agency that provides food to local agencies that serve food to hungry families and the homeless all across the Pioneer Valley.

Requests for food at local shelters and food banks have increased this year, and the shelves are empty. This event is a fun way for the students and volunteers to help fill those shelves.
