Sharon Osbourne elected to have a double mastectomy last summer after discovering she had a gene that made her predisposed to developing breast cancer, she told the U.K.’s Hello! magazine.

“I decided to just take everything off,” Osbourne tells the publication, saying her family — husband Ozzy, children Kelly and Jack, and new granddaughter Pearl — were the main motivation behind her decision.
