JFK Tribute To Take Place In Fort Worth, TX

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A bronze sculpture of President John F. Kennedy is to be unveiled in Fort Worth, where he gave his last public speeches before his assassination that same day in nearby Dallas.

The JFK Tribute opens Thursday in a downtown Fort Worth park, where visitors also can see pictures from his visit and hear the speeches.

Kennedy spoke at a breakfast in Fort Worth the morning of Nov. 22, 1963, after speaking outside to thousands of people who had waited in the rain to hear him.

Project organizers say his final speeches have been all but forgotten but are relevant today. They say they want to honor the ideals and themes in his last speeches.

The JFK Tribute is on 1 1/2 acres close to where he delivered his outdoor remarks.
