NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a young mother is facing charges for allegedly poisoning the infant son of another juvenile mother staying at the same residential program for pregnant and parenting teens in Newburyport.
City Marshal Thomas Howard says the boy, less than a year old, was brought to a hospital Friday where he was tested, treated and released.
He tells The Daily News of Newburyport it appears the girl slipped a poisonous substance into the baby’s formula. He did not specify what the substance was or what prompted it.
The girl is expected to be arraigned in Newburyport District Court as a juvenile next week.
Authorities did not disclose any names or ages.
The girls were both staying at a facility in Newburyport run by Dare Family Services.
