Springfield, Mass. (WGGB) —  It was a special night for the Springfield Puerto Rican Cultural Center as they held their annual gala.

The center is made up entirely of volunteer workers who offer services to the community including GRE courses to youth programs.

The group focuses on civic involvement and they were proud to honor some their hardest workers Friday night.

“It’s great, it’s great.  It’s to celebrate the accomplishments of the year and we welcome that and celebrate our culture.  It’s a very special night,” says Executive Director, Ivette Cruz.

Friday night’s event was also a fundraiser for the center.
