SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A cat is waiting for necessary surgery to remove pellets lodged in her leg and abdomen.
The cat’s name is Wild Horse. She was discovered by a Good Samaritan, who immediately called Dakin Humane Society.
An x-ray reveals there’s a pellet lodged in her right leg — which caused a severe break. It also revealed another pellet lodged in the animal’s abdomen.
Dakin Human Society Director Candy Lash says, unfortunately, incidents like this are somewhat common.
“It’s horrific because, in this case, she’s in quite a bit of pain right now,” says Lash. “She’ll have surgery tomorrow, which will make her much more comfortable long-term of course — but, in the process of this she’s going to lose her limb, so it’s very unfortunate.”
Lash adds, “It’s also animal cruelty.”
After Wild Horse gets out of surgery, she’ll need a few days to recover.
She’s also going to need a new home. If you’re interested in adopting the cat, stop by Dakin Humane Society in Springfield…

That’s awful
You talk about this as news but the Westfield cat from a couple months ago you didn’t bother with!!
And that kitty died!
Poor cat
And what are they going to do about this? Probably nothing like usual. They should start to outlaw these pellet guns…just terrible. Its a sick and twisted individual that will resort to shooting a poor defenseless cat :/
I remember that…those poor people :/ Thomas was his name and I think that Channel 40 covered that story…once.
I’d like to shoot the person who did this with a real gun
Who gave him the name WILD HORSE???? lol
cat should be called lucky
makes me so sick. nobody should be allowed to carry a pellet gun without at least taking some safety course..these people need to be tied to a tree and shot in the leg with my .38
