Drive-By Shooting Shakes Up Springfield Neighborhood
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Just after 3 A.M. Sunday Morning, a string of shots rang out near 300 Central Street during a drive by shooting.
They woke 8-year-old Tori Rodriguez up, and he got right on the floor. “There was like, bullets shooting, gunshots shooting everywhere,” he said.
Some of the shooting took place in an empty lot.
The owner of the home right next to the lot, said her family had the same reaction.
Police say they found 12 casings in the lot alone. One of the bullets went through a wall right near her 12- year-old son’s headboard. Luckily, no one was injured, but neighbors say are still concerned about their safety. “All of a sudden you hear ‘pow pow pow pow!’ I jump out of bed, I shield my kids. It’s kind of sad to say you can’t even feel safe in your own home sleeping with your kid. They don’t care. They don’t care about us,” Allison Rodriguez stated.
Now the 12 year-old boy is too afraid to sleep in his own bed, and has gone back to sharing a room with his sister.
Police have yet to make an arrest.
Cops are looking for a recent model Volvo SUV in relation to the shootings. If you have any information, you’re urged to contact the Springfield Police Department.
