Traffic Moving on Routes 9 & 116 after Hadley Gas Leak

HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) — Traffic is moving again after a gas leak closed part of Routes 116 and 9 for a time Monday.

Hadley Police say that a contractor was doing work in the area and hit a line around 10:45 a.m. near Applebee’s, which is located near the junction of Route 9 and Route 116.

People inside Applebee’s and Staples were asked to evacuate.

No injuries have been reported.

A portion of both Route 9 and Route 116 southbound were closed as crews worked to shut off the gas.

Traffic is now moving on both roadways.

Berkshire Gas crews remain on-scene working to repair the break.
