Huntington, Mass. (WGGB) — To help those people who are still suffering due to Sandy’s damage, the Huntington and Chesterfield Fire Departments are collecting a number of items this weekend.
They’ve been working on it for a little while now, but they still have room in the trailer they’ll be driving down to New York next week.
Firefighters say there are some specific things they’re looking for.
“The fire departments are looking for cleaning supplies, like brooms, shovels, rakes, trash bags, gloves, masks. The three church organizations, including Boy Scouts of America, are looking for the non-perishables, the water, baby stuff, formulas, pet food, blankets, coats, are the major things,” explains John McVeigh.
If you would like to help out, they will be collecting this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Gateway Regional High School at 12 Littleville Road in Huntington and also at the fire station at 5 North Road in Chesterfield.

There will also be a full thanksgiving dinner being offered for free in huntington at the bridge store right off route 20.
