St. Patrick’s Day Parade Citizenship Award Announced

Holyoke, Mass. (WGGB) — The Holyoke Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee announced the recipient of their citizenship award Wednesday night.

It’s presented to a person or group of people who have made a substantial contribution to the parade.

This year’s winner is Douglas Bowen, the President and CEO of PeoplesBank. He says he’s honored and the parade committee says they are grateful for all of the support from the bank.

Bowen told ABC40 News, “Growing up, here in Holyoke, watching the parade with my family every year, seeing all these folks marching in the parade, I never imagined I would be selected for this and marching as an award winner.”

Parade Liaison, Ray Feyre says, “They have adopted us, if you would say, as far as the road race and the parade. It’s a really great relationship we have with the bank.”

The St. Pat’s 10K Road Race is Saturday, March 16, and the 62nd parade will be held on Sunday March 17, 2013.
