Stonington CT to Hold Halloween on Friday

STONINGTON, Conn. (AP) — Trick-or-treaters will finally get a chance to collect their candy in Stonington.

The southeastern Connecticut shoreline community had postponed Halloween after Superstorm Sandy hit on Oct. 29, downing wires and trees, knocking out electricity, closing schools and damaging some homes.

First Selectman Ed Haberek announced Wednesday in his online blog that Friday will be “Halloween in Stonington Day.” He encouraged residents and businesses to participate, and to leave a front light on to help trick-or-treaters find participating homes.

Haberek said town officials felt that rescheduling Halloween for Nov. 16 would be a good alternative considering the lack of power and lights and unsafe roads on Oct. 31.

Other municipalities in Connecticut affected by the storm also postponed Halloween.
