SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — What started as two separate arguments inside Fat Cats bar in Downtown Springfield escalated to a huge street fight.

Springfield Police were quick to respond, but patrons were reluctant to end the brawl.

In the end, four officers were injured, and nine people, 6 men and 3 women, were taken into custody.

Officers say the arguments started inside the Worthington St. bar around 2:00 Saturday morning. The first argument was between women over someone’s boyfriend, the other was about patrons refusing to pay their bill.

The fights then moved out into the street where things became violent.

Three of the four officers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say one officer suffered a severe concussion.
