Armed Man Attempts to Rob Convenience Store Overnight

SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — Springfield police are trying to track down the man who attempted to rob a convenience store overnight.

Officers say the robbery happened at the 7-Eleven at the intersection of Allen and Cooley Street around 2 o’clock this morning.

A Hispanic male wearing a grey cap and hooded sweatshirt walked into the store and bought a pack of cigarettes.

Moments later, the man showed a gun to the clerk and demanded cash. When the clerk refused, the suspect didn’t put up much of a fight. In fact, he left the store, got into an unidentified vehicle and took off.

Police say the man is wanted for attempted armed robbery and assault. If you have any information on his whereabouts, you’re urged to contact the Springfield Police Department.
