“Fat Cat’s” Suspects in Court; Bar Cited

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The nine suspects involved in a huge fight at “Fat Cat’s” Saturday morning are appearing in court today, and the city is taking action against the bar’s management.

Four Springfield Police Officers were hurt trying to break up a brawl inside the bar at 232 Worthington Street. Most seriously injured, was Officer Eleni Mendez, who suffered a severe concussion when she was punched in the back of the head, and kicked several times on the ground.

The accused are:

1) Allan Wilson age 24 of 45 Willow Street, Springfield
a) Disorderly Conduct
b) Affray

2) Miguel Ofray age 26 of 45 Willow Street, Springfield
a) Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
b) Assault and battery on a Police officer
c) Disorderly person
d) Resisting Arrest

3) Gissette Lopez age 25 87 Egbert Street, Chicopee
a) Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
b) Affray
c) Disorderly Person

4) Christopher Braun age 33 of 127 School Street, Manchester, CT
a) A&B on a Police Officer
b) Resisting Arrest
c) Disorderly Conduct
d) Affray

5) Madeline Lopez age 26 of 77 Central Street, Springfield
a) Disorderly Conduct

6) Tiffany Pizarro age 21 of 46 Armory Street, Springfield
a) A&B on a Police Officer (Mendez)
b) Disorderly Conduct
c) Affray
d) Resisting Arrest

7) Hector Diaz age 24 of 1306 Gaucho Road, San Leizario, Texas
a) Disorderly Person
b) Affray

8) Hector Lopez age 21 of 25 Myrtle Street, Chicopee, MA
a) A&B on a Police Officer
b) Resisting Arrest
c) Assault

9) Hector Lopez age 21 of 25 Myrtle Street, Chicopee, MA
a) A&B on a Police Officer
b) Resisting Arrest
c) Assault

The first four suspects above are members of the U.S. Marine Corp.

Saturday, Mayor Sarno and Springfield Police expressed their disgust with the incident, and Monday, “Fat Cat’s” was written up for violations to the Sprinfield License Commission.
