Springfield, Mass. (WGGB) — It’s a different kind of Black Friday deal, the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society is charging just $5.00 for cats six months or older.
Organizers say it’s a great way to get a new pet and it’s a great deal!
“Those cats that go home on Black Friday are going home with all the benefits of our regular adoption fee; spay and neuter surgery, micro chipping, vaccination, testing, color and tag, and a starter kit and food,” explains Dakin Representative, Candy Lash.
Dakin which is located at 171 Union Street in Springfield, hopes the promotion will free up some space for cats from shelters destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
For more information visit Dakin’s website or call them at 413-781-4000.

I can’t decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
Is that such a good idea? Seems like they could be opening up a doorway to really bad things….it’s a live creature that requires commitment, not a blender!
I’d love to get another but we already have two adult cats. I hope they require an application before letting just anyone adopt.
If the person is able to care for it, then I don’t see nothing wrong with this. I think it’s awesome for those who can’t afford buying one. Plus, they need some love and affection.
It’s a great deal because it includes spay/neutering, microchipping, shots, etc. You can’t feed a cat for $5.00 a week, never mind get all that done!
That’s a black Friday sale worth going to!
Rest assured, the adoption application process is still the same.
