REPORT: Hernandez to Play Thursday against the Jets

Foxborough, MA (WGGB) — According to a report from the NFL Network’s Albert Breer, Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez will play Thursday night against the New York Jets.  Breer tweeted Tuesday that, barring any late setbacks, Hernandez will return.

The Patriots are battling the loss of Rob Gronkowski to a broken forearm.  The injury took place late in Sunday’s 59-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Hernandez has not played since the first meeting with the Jets, on October 21st — a 29-26 overtime win for the Patriots, at Gillette Stadium.  Hernandez caught 5 balls for 54 yards in the win.

New England is 7-3 on the season, after the blowout win over the Colts.  With six games remaining in the 2012 season, the chances of Gronkowski’s return coming before the end of the regular season are slim.
