Bright Nights Opens for the Holidays

Springfield, Mass. (WGGB) — Springfield’s famous Bright Nights display officially opened for the season tonight.

It was Roll-Back Night for visitors, only $6 per car, the same as when the display first opened in 1996.

Organizers say they are happy to see that people who were there at the start coming back every year.

“You know it’s an inter-generational thing now and it is truly a tradition for families and they’re bringing their kids.  One of the couples here tonight, they brought their baby and they came through as babies, so that’s really something.  It’s very gratifying, you know that’s your reward,” says Spirit of Springfield’s Judy Matt.

The exhibit is open from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

To check out the light displays all you need is $18 per car on weeknights, and $21 on weekends.

The three mile long lighting event goes through January 1st.
