SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — People in the Pioneer Valley were using up every minute before Thanksgiving arrived.
The lines stretched into the aisles at Table & Vine in West Springfield Wednesday night as people stocked up for their holiday parties.
“It’s always last minute. It’s a lot of fun,” said Steve Thibault, Table & Vine manager.
“Ya it’s great. It’s just part of the holiday spirit,” said Ralph Hess, Springfield.
The Stop and Shop in West Springfield was also pretty busy with people picking up some last minute items.
“I’m contributing soda tomorrow. I thought I had enough, but I still need more,” said Valerie Ungerer, Springfield.
The work doesn’t stop at Gus & Paul’s Bakery in Springfield. Owner Gordie Weissman says he’ll be their all night baking. The store opens from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday for people still looking for some sweet treats.
“We have a lot stopping by on the way to peoples houses pick up cakes. We have a lot of orders over 600 today alone,” said Weissman.
As the night carried on, the crowds moved to the bars. Thanksgiving Eve is the biggest bar night of the year.
“Everyone is home from school, if they have been away they come home for the holidays,” said Ami Nicholls, Chicopee.
