West Springfield, Mass. (WGGB) — Last Friday we told you about Sherlock, the German Shepard who was rescued from a West Springfield dumpster in October and since then support has been growing to get him the donations he needs.
City resident Sue Muncy first heard about Sherlock through ABC40 News and now she is working with local businesses to help bring in more donations to pay for his medical costs.
“He has a huge amount of medical issues, sores, gastrointestinal issues, he was starved, he was so skinny when they found him. I mean he is doing better right now, but he has so much further to go. And he needs everybody’s support. And this is the season of Thanksgiving, Christmas giving, so please anyone give whatever you can to help this dog,” says Muncy.
She has been in contact with VETcision, an emergency and specialty veterinary hospital in Waltham who is currently caring for Sherlock.
He was moved there from the Westfield Animal Shelter early last week due to the severity of his condition.
Muncy says anyone looking to help out Sherlock can stop by with their donations at the following locations: Pet Supplies Plus on Memorial Avenue in West Springfield, Memorial Drive Animal Clinic in Chicopee, and Dave’s Soda and Pet City on Springfield Street in Agawam.
Besides monetary donations, anyone looking to donate Sherlock a toy, or blanket or dog supplies, is welcome do so as well.
On Saturday December 1, Muncy will be selling Sherlock T-Shirts at Dave’s Soda and Pet City in Agawam from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 100 of them were generously donated by the T Shirt Station in West Springfield and flyers about this fundraising effort were also donated by Curry Printing in West Springfield.
