DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) — The family of a woman who died in a crash about a mile from Gillette Stadium after drinking in the stadium parking lot during a concert, as well as a woman who survived the same crash, have sued the Kraft Group, owner of the stadium and the New England Patriots.
The lawsuit brought by the family of Debra Davis of Milton and Nina Houlihan of Norton, says the Kraft Group was willfully negligent and had a duty to monitor the parking lot and prevent underage drinking outside the 2008 concert. Both women were 20.
Davis’ family is seeking $2.5 million Houlihan is seeking $250,000.
The Boston Globe reports that a lawyer for the Kraft Group said in court Tuesday the women brought their own alcohol and were trespassing because they did not have tickets.

How about actually being responsible for your own actions?
These girls chose to drink. They knew they were breaking the law. Now their families are making a spectacle of how stupid they were! Brilliant!
Well, this one should get thrown out of court! And the woman should have charges brought against them!
How do they even have a case here? This is ridiculous!!
I don’t understand how a lawyer actually agreed to take this case and plans on winning it. The parents of the girl who died and the one that is living should take responsibility of their own actions. How is the stadium supposed to patrol and card every single person in that parking lot tailgating especially when they snuck in?. The outcome will be no drinking anymore at all allowed if they win this case.
I am sorry the young lady died, but if her and her companion brought their own alcohol, then whoever bought it for them should be charged, not the Kraft Group.
The lawyers and family members involved know they could never win in court. They only proceed with this foolishness because Kraft Group has lots and lots of money and they want some of it. People who sue big businesses, even when they know they are in the wrong, do so because the company will often settle to avoid the bad press. It is a good way for them to make some quick cash. If you need money that badly consider getting a job like everyone else. You should never look to profit from the death of your child.
Why do familys get to sue for the bad behavior of their loved ones, always someone else to blame for their own actions.
So that is how to make it big…. Go get drunk on someone else’s property, get in a wreck and then sue the owners of the property for not making you stop drinking while you were tresspassing on their property….. Think I’m gonna get drunk in the Wal-Mart parking lot tonight! Really, why can’t Americans be responsible for their own actions? Young ladies decided to get drunk in a parking lot during a concert they didn’t even have tickets for and somehow it is the venue’s fault…. any lawyer that would take their case should be dis-barred!
